750 million years ago
Rodinia (from Russian meaning The Motherland) is the putative Neoproterozoic Era supercontinent that between 1000 and 750 million years ago comprised most landmass on earth. The map above shows Rodinia during the process of breaking apart at about 750 million years ago, with green shoing areas of thrust faulting. Rodinia is hypothesized based on sparse evidence, but would explain a lot of data. |
